MyPlate illustrates the five food groups that are the building blocks for a healthy diet using a familiar image – a place setting for a meal. Before you eat, think about what goes on your plate or in your cup or bowl. MyPlate is a new generation icon with the intent to prompt consumers to think about building a healthy plate at meal times.

MyNutrition site

To help the WSU community better understand proper diet and exercise Dining Services recently launched the myNutrition site. Please visit this site to learn more about nutrition, and how to lead a healthier lifestyle and visit links to other nutrition and lifestyle resources.

EatWell program

As part of the EatWell program, Dining Services is committed to labeling all of the Healthy Options, Vegan Options, and Vegetarian Options available to customers in the Dining Centers.  We have a variety of snacks, sides, and beverages that meet the Healthy Options criteria and are continuously adding new items.


Fooducate is a free Android and iOS app that helps you shop and eat healthy by allowing you to pull up nutritional information about food products from barcodes. If users cook their own meals or eat out, they can manually enter a meal’s nutritional information. The app also doubles as an intake, calorie and exercise tracker.


Shopwell is another free Android and iOS barcode scanning and shopping assistant app that rates foods and grocery items according to your nutritional needs. Users select a series of nutritional goals as well as dietary restrictions. The app uses these to score scanned grocery items, as well as provide nutritional pointers and healthy suggestions.


MyFitnessPal is an easy to use calorie and nutrients counter with a database app for iOS and Android that boasts more than 2 million foods. Easily look up and track the foods you’re consuming with the help of a barcode scanner as well as a recipe calculator.

Lose It!

Lose It! is a nutrition and exercise logging tool for iOS and Android targeted at those looking to lose a few pounds. It keeps tracking your food intake easy, with barcode scanners for grocery items, as well as an extensive database of dishes and restaurant meals.

HealthyOut Healthy Meal Finder

HealthyOut Healthy Meal Finder is a free Android and iOS app that helps you stay on your diet even when you’re going out or ordering delivery. The app helps users find healthy restaurant dishes and prepared grocery items nearby, and supports a wide variety of diet plans.
